Always New

Furthering thoughts for April 4th 2019

Yesterday I was rather sick, and today I’m still recovering. But even worse, was the fact, I fell on my walk to the mailbox and sprained my ankle pretty bad, purple and puffy my ankle was, and is.

So today, I’m walking to my car to go to work. Usually its a hop skip and a jump to my car door, but today was different. Slow, plodding, struggling and wincing with pain, at a snails pace, but through all the grimaces, I smiled as it gave me the opportunity to see the small things that I would usually pass by without notice and simply thanking the Lord for being “God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth”. Yes, it was quite difficult to move around today, and it reminded me through all things, we are new. And nothing will change this reality in our lives.

We will always be new. Even when things are breaking down. We will always be new. Through the one who made us new/holy/blameless/whiter than snow. The newness that is delivered by our Savior through His death and resurrection. The newness that is also given in Holy Baptism where Christ grafts and robes us in His name. Yes, our days may be rough, but this newness never changes because “We are forgiven to walk in newness of life”.

And in this life of forgiveness, the newness of life, we love serve and forgive one another just as Christ has forgiven us [Eph4:32]. In this newness of life, our vocations are seen a completely different way, as our life of faith in Christ leads us to love and serve in the freedom of His name. Set free and redeemed, we continue to be the beacon of the newness to those around us.

Go in Christ, Go in your Baptism, Go in the fullness of the Supper, knowing full well, that you are living the newness of life 🙂 What a blessing this is, that even through the valley of the shadow of death, there is no evil to fear for the Lord is always with you. New New New!

Enjoy this day, stay healthy, and watch your feet lest you twist and fall like me 🙁

A blessed jueves to you all!
